SEO PowerSuite Review – It’s A Must-Have

When I decided that it was time to write an SEO Powersuite Review, I wasn't very familiar with the various tools on offer. Once I checked them out and saw just a fraction of the things you can do with them, I realized that this was going to be a very positive review.

SEO Powersuite is fast becoming one of my most used tools and all 4 of the different tools in the suite have worked their way into my business methods. I've also started using Buzz Builder recently (another tool of theirs) and will review that next.

Here is an overview of what's on offer within the suite. You can click each one to be taken to that section.

1.) Website Auditor

A handy tool for analyzing your site's health. Find broken links, CSS/HTML errors, and check your overall popularity.

2.) SEO Spyglass

Want to download all your backlinks (or your competitors) without having to subscribe to AHRefs or OpenSiteExplorer? This is a very comprehensive and intuitive tool for doing just that.

3.) Rank Tracker

A great little tool for checking your site's search engine rankings. Select multiple keywords and search engines at once, and track progress over time.

Once you've set up a campaign, it's pretty easy to regularly check your progress.

4.) Link Assistant

Originally designed for finding link exchange partners, it actually has a much more powerful use which I witnessed first-hand.

In-Depth SEO PowerSuite Review

I initially started off by playing around with Rank Tracker and then later using Link Assistant as a handy outreach and prospecting tool. A few days ago though I cracked open Website Auditor and fixed over 20 errors on HumanProofDesigns in about 30 minutes.

I wouldn't ever have noticed those errors (broken links and a few other coding issues) without this tool.

I've recently been using SEO Spyglass as well and come to realize how powerful it is, and that it is a rival to the other backlink checkers.

In fact, some of the most popular outreach and link building strategies in 2014 can utilize 2 or 3 of these tools at once, and purely for that purpose alone this suite would be amazing.

I know that in 2015 I'm going to get a lot of use out of it.

For the rest of this article I'm going to show you a little bit more about how to use each tool, and give some examples of how it could benefit you as well.

By the way, you can get a free trial for each individual tool as well, click the link below each section, or head to the main page here.

Website Auditor Review And How To

This is perhaps the simplest of the 4 tools but one that can instantly make a difference to your SEO.

There are two ways you can use this:

1.) Clean up errors on your site (broken links, HTML/CSS validation errors and more)

2.) Generate SEO reports to sell to clients (or to give away for lead generation).

You can even put your own logo on the reports.

To get started, start a new project, enter the domain name, and watch the tool go to work. Afterwards, you'll see something like this:

website-auditor-review

You'll be given an overview of your site's general health. In my case, there were 21 errors, 472 warnings (yikes!) and 679 other pieces of information.

By clicking on the first ite (Pages with 4xx status code), I was given a breakdown on the right found side. It turned out there were a number of broken links on my site and I was able to find them and clean them up in less than 20 minutes.

You'll also be able to analyse your content, and a number of other things.

website-auditor-content-analysis

This is a great tool for spotting whether or not some silly mistakes or coding errors and damaging your SEO.

SEO Spyglass Review And How To

SEO Spyglass is exactly what it sounds like, your chance to find out all your competitors backlinks. What's cool is that you can also organize things by certain metrics such as PR (although this isn't the most useful metric these days).

This is great for doing things like broken link building or outreach. Imagine if you've produced an article better than somebody else's (or more up to date), and want to notify all the people who are linking to the original that yours exists. You can find them all very quickly and easily.

Or if you find a broken link and want to know who else is linking to it (so that you can suggest your page as a replacement), this is a very quick and easy way of doing it.

AHREFS, MajesticSEO, and OpenSiteExplorer are widely used for these functions, and they all require monthly subscriptions if you want to do more than a handful of daily searches.

The fact that you can get SEO Spyglass for a on-off fee, or get it bundled in as part of the SEO Powersuite, makes it just as good as all of the others.

SEO Spyglass in action

Let's say I wanted to try and get some backlinks from Neil Patel at quicksprout.com. All I need to do is enter the URL here, then select some basic options on the next pages, such as how many links to download, and let the software do its thing:

After a couple of minutes while it searches, this is what you'll see:

seo-spyglass-backlink-report

Now obviously this is a bit of a mess because QuickSprout has so many links pointing to it. The tabs at the top let you clean things up and filter as well.

For example, you can search for all the links coming from blogs and forums, and analyze whether they are valuable links and if you might also be able to get those links.

One thing that is very useful is the ability to search for links going to specific pages. If I know that I've written a better guide than somebody on something, I can find out all the places that are linking to THEIR guide, and email them to see if they'd also like to link to MY guide.

This is known as the skyscraper method, and there's no better tool than SEO Spyglass for helping you implement it.

Again, you can also get a free trial here.

Rank Tracker Review and How To

When you have a lot of keywords and URLs that you want to track, it really helps if you have a tool that can do it for you. This is precisely what Rank Tracker can do.

There are many other tools out there that can do this, and I'm particularly fond of the one built into Long Tail Pro. Where Rank Tracker wins is that it has a few advantages:

1.) You can save projects.

2.) You can specify which search engines to check.

3.) You can specify how many pages to check (if you want to save time and only check the first 50 pages for example).

4.) You can click on individual keywords and check their ranking history (once you've done more than one search).

You will want to use some proxy servers if you're using this heavily though, as Google will start to give you captcha fields to fill in otherwise.

Thanks to a recent update, you can now connect Rank Tracker with your Google Anlaytics account, which means it will be able to collaborate all the data and make everything very nicely organized:

rank-tracker

Once you've specified the keywords you want it to track, it will go away and perform its search, and present the data for you as below:

rank-tracker-review

In the top section you'll see your keywords and their rank.

Note this software isn't 100% perfect, because it said I'm not in the top 50 for a keyword that I know I'm on page 1 for. However, no software is perfect and if you refresh it later you'll be more likely to get the right result.

What's really cool is that if you click on a specific keyword, the bottom half you show you the progress of the keyword on a graph. I've done a brand new project for this example, so there's currently no graph.

You can also check things like keyword difficulty and your site visibility (how often you show up for that keyword).

Link Assistant Review And How To

This software has some pretty cool features and it's the one I've used the most.

It was originally intended for seeking out link exchange partners. You know, the “I'll link to you if you link to me” kind of thing that used to work in 2010.

That original purpose isn't going to do much good in 2014, but you can tweak the software so that it still has some great uses. Here's what I've used it for in the past:

1.) Finding Guest Post opportunities

2.) Outreach

What is really cool about the software is that it will search for whatever “footprints” you tell it to, and you can also specify other metrics as well, like PageRank, popularity, number of indexed pages, and so on.

This means you can tell it to find 1,000 (or however many you want) sites that have “Write for us” + “your keyword” somewhere on your site. Or even just “Your keyword”.

It will also try to pull their contact data as well.

You can then tidy up your list, delete irrelevant sites or sites with no email address, and fire them off an email. The software lets you use templates as well. This is a great way of sending bulk emails to a lot of people.

Here's what your list might look like after you've tidied it up and emailed them:

I recently published an ultimate guide for one of my niche sites, and I wanted to notify as many relevant site owners as possible. I used Link Assistant to find sites based on my keyword, then I emailed about 250 of them to let them know my guide was up.

A few days later I had some people sharing and linking to my guide.

This was a massive time saver for me.

Of course, an outreach campaign will always work better if you send each person an individual email that uses their personal name, but you can still use Link Assistant to find them in the first place.

Conclusion

SEO Powersuite really has some fantastic features and as I said earlier, I know that I'm going to be using it heavily over the next few months as I get deeper into outreach campaigns.

There are plenty of tools that can do the same things as the four SEO PS tools, but most of them require a monthly subscription. The fact that you can get all of them for one single payment makes it an incredibly valuable tool, and gets a big thumbs up from me.

You can also get the free trial bundle for all 4 tools here.

  1. SEO Powersuite is great software, just be warned: it’s a monthly subscription. Their pricing page is intentionally misleading, making it look like a one-time fee with optional “search algo updates”.

What they don’t say anywhere on the site is that if you don’t pay for the algo updates, your software stops working.
